New Cover Art!

  • Jun. 14th, 2008 at 6:57 AM

YAY!  I received the advance print out of Cork and Fuzz: Finders Keepers which will be out in the spring.  This is the fifth book in the Cork and Fuzz series.  (Who knew the book would become a series, and that the series would go to five books!)

The flap copy reads:

Cork is a short muskrat who  like to find things.
Fuzz is a tall possum who likes to keep things.
Fuzz finds Cork's lost stone, but he wants to keep it.
But a chipmunk runs off with it.
Who will say "finders keepers" now?
The sweet story and playful illustrations in this fifth Cork and Fuzz
easy-to-read title are sure to delight young readers.

YAY!

Sometimes it seems unreal. Books that require art work take so long in the making. You have to temper your excitement and enthusiasm through the process. But the day comes when it's 'almost' a book, and that's a thrill!

Looks awesome, Dori. The colors seem to be more vivid, or is it just my computer?

The illustrations are brighter because of the autumn colors used. The fall colors are a nice change from the soft greens and blues of summer. I really like it!

Aren't the colors... errr... colorful! I'd seen earlier black/white sketches, but the bright yellow/oranges were a total surprise.

The illustrator, Lisa McCue, has done an amazing job once again! Viking chose a winning artist for the series. Am I lucky, or what?

Yay Dori!
Super-cuteness on the cover front. Writerly brilliance on the author front.
Cool, cool, cool!

Re: Yay Dori!
MJ, would you like your check mailed, or should I wait until I see you?

It would be my honor to sign any book for you, MJ! (Heck, I'll even sign books written by someone else!) :)

The cover is great. It is wonderful that you were able to create a series with these characters!

It sounds like an adorable story--I need to look for it. I have a young reader who needs more books.

I was fortunate, Sarah, that the first book did well, and Viking asked for a second one, etc. They were fun books to write!

Oh I am so glad there is another Cork and Fuzz adventure. I can't wait until my grandson is old enough for them.

You're a grandmother? Holy mackerel. I didn't know that. I picture you with young children of your own.

I saw a quote that cracked me up: "Grandchildren are rewards from God for not killing your kids." :)

Yep, my grandson will be 4 in a couple of months. I'll be 50 next month. I don't feel like 50 - LOL. I remember when I was a kid thinking that was so OLD but now it's just a number.
